HAROLD CLEWORTH – THE GENIUS

Harold James Cleworth Great lithographsHarold James Cleworth was born in an industrial town in England during the second world war. His ability to design machinery and painting was exemplary. Even as a teenager, he he held shows of paints at local libraries.

A graduate of prestigious Manchester College of Art, shifted to London at the age of 26 and was able to draw the cover of Rolling Stones.  Another 5 years, he moved to California and started a career in Arts, even while carrying his love for automobiles. Many posters later, his black 300 SL Gullwing mercedes poster gained most popularity. A bank in Zurich bought his painting which was followed by private collectors commissioning him to make portraits of cars.  He also held several exhibitions of his portraits. He then turned to lithographs.  Cleworth’s painting of COBRA in 1980 turned out to be the beginning of a great lithograph. Many of his lithographs were matted and framed.
